Girard Tax Services

Tax work that knows what your portfolio is doing.

Tax preparation and year-round planning, led by a CPA, offered through Girard Tax Services, a separate company under common ownership.

The Problem
Most people's accountant and adviser have never spoken. The return gets filed in April describing decisions that were made in October, when it was already too late to plan around them.

Girard Tax Services exists to close that gap. It is led by Jacob Girard, a Certified Public Accountant who also works as an investment adviser representative at Girard Capital Management, so when a portfolio decision carries a tax consequence, the same person sees both sides of it.

The practical difference is timing. Roth conversion room gets evaluated in November while there's still time to act. Loss harvesting gets coordinated with the actual return rather than guessed at. Withdrawal sequencing gets modeled against your real bracket, not a rule of thumb.

Tax clients are welcome whether or not they work with Girard Capital Management, and advisory clients are under no obligation to use the tax practice.

What's Offered

Preparation, and the planning that should precede it.

Individual and small business federal and state returns, prepared and reviewed by a CPA. Includes multi-state filings, self-employment income, rental property, and investment income reporting.

02

Year-Round Planning

Quarterly projections, estimated payment planning, and mid-year checkpoints so December decisions are made with real numbers rather than estimates.

04

Investment Tax Coordination

Capital gain and loss planning, cost basis review, charitable giving strategy including appreciated securities, and coordination with your investment accounts.

05

Business & Entity Matters

Entity selection considerations, reasonable compensation analysis, quarterly estimates, and self-employment tax planning for owners and independent contractors.

How It Works With the Advisory Firm

Two companies, one conversation.

Girard Tax Services and Girard Capital Management LLC are separate legal entities with separate engagements and separate fees. Jacob Girard owns Girard Tax Services and is also an investment adviser representative of Girard Capital Management LLC.

  • i.

    You choose each relationship separately

Advisory clients are never required to use the tax practice, and tax clients are never required to open an advisory account. Either service can be engaged on its own.

  • ii.

Fees are separate and disclosed up front

Tax services are billed by Girard Tax Services and are not included in any advisory fee. You will see what each service costs before engaging it.

  • iii.

The conflict is disclosed, not hidden

Because Jacob Girard receives compensation from both entities, recommending the tax practice to an advisory client is a conflict of interest. It is disclosed here and in Girard Capital Management's Form ADV Part 2A, and you are free to use any tax professional you prefer.

Talk to a CPA before year end, not after.

The most useful tax conversations happen while there's still time to act on them.
